Referrals are made from faculty, staff, family members, peers, or by the student him/herself.
Students' Legal Assistance
Students' Legal Assistance ("SLA") seeks to enhance the students' experience at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale by advising students of their specific legal issues, which would enable them to overcome legal obstacles which might otherwise impede their educational progress. We, also, strive to enrich the Saluki experience by educating the students of their legal rights, legal responsibilities and collateral consequences through preventive legal education activities. Further, SLA provides an environment for law clerks ("lawyers in training") and paralegal interns (paraprofessionals) to acquire valuable and/or mandatory legal skills and professional experience.
